The Organimals are the star story characters of the childrens self esteem building book series, Magnificent Me!
Each of the self esteem building books is written in lilting rhyming verse and illustrated with winsome artwork of these loveable story characters in the various learning situations a young child experiences in a usual day.
HOW THE ORGANIMALS CAME TO BE As we, as caring parents (many of us educated stay-at-home-by- choice moms), read more and more about childrens brain development it became very clear to us that the two most foundational toys a child could have to develop his/her brain to its highest levels were storybooks on self esteem building topics (and also naturally a loving-someone to read them to him), and a favorite cuddly life-form type of toy for a child to show esteem, affection and caring to.
These two things -- self esteem building storybooks and cuddly animals -- developed neurons from one end of the brain to the other, such as the social centers, self esteem centers, bonding, caring and nurturing networks, stress management responses, social skills, instinct centers, cognitive lobes, and on and on. In fact they had direct long term effects on the hardwiring of the brain and the chemical balances in our childrens brains moment to moment!What astounding brain juice those two simple things are for a child's thirsty brain! BRAIN RESEARCH, SELF ESTEEM STORIES AND CUDDLY TOYS In fact, as we uncovered more brain research about the coorelations between a child's brain development and self esteem stories and cuddly toys, we were struck by how much better these beneficial effects would be if we combined them! We began to realize that a real-life cuddly friend from the story book would do much in terms of benefiting the child's brain development. The child could actually enjoy and relate to the story in an immediate way if the fun cuddly friend was both in the story and sitting right on his lap too.
The child's brain could establish a "memory hook" or neural pathway in his developing braincells so as to have continuous positive reinforcement just by seeing the cuddly friends around.
The positive self esteem messages from the book would be repeatedly reinforced as the child repeated the rhymes with his new friends.
HIGHER BRAIN DEVELOPMENT The benefits are profound for brain structure development and braincell "hardwiring", and include: The Acceleration of the child's development of "bonding" neural networks in his brain, such as socializing, affection and nurturing, which teaches his brain how to regularly create for itself powerful "emotional chemicals”, the neurochemicals opidiods and oxytocin (those feel-good chemicals produced by the brain). As he matures this learned ability to create these brain chemicals at will, allows him to self regulate his emotional responses, such as enabling him to think under stress and calm himself down. The development of highly intelligent emotional neural networks, is also stimulated by the release of feel-good emotional chemicals in children who are warm, physically and emotionally affectionate (those with well developed bonding neural networks). As this child matures his brain’s ability to strongly activate opioids and oxytocin will enable him to manage conflicts with ease, for example, by moving into resolution rather than resorting to blame or lashing back. It also will enable his brain to learn how to turn adversity into opportunity.The Organimal Self Esteem Building storybooks concept was coming clearly into focus after we discovered those mighty benefits! There was just one other concern ... ORGANIC CUDDLY TOYS FOR BETTER NEUROLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTNaturally! The best material to have our cuddly friend made of, we realized, would be organic! If you've ever read even a single article on environmental toxins, or had an allergy plagued child, you know that a serious threat they pose to a child's neurological development, and yes, this means his brain. So we started out on our high minded mission and travelled the entire world wide web on our crusade to find the best mindful (read mind-full) self esteem building books and most loveable organic cuddlers. We didn't find anything like this! So we created it ourselves! We asked professional childrens authors from our own Childrens Self Esteem site community to create a self esteem building series of childrens storybooks. We asked children's book illstrators and photographer and moms and kids. And the Organimals -- star characters of childrens self esteem building and mind training books -- were born!
The Organimal Storybook Effect
Then we tested The Organimals out on little minds, and big ones too. The effects were always postive... the bonding, the feel-goods, the beginning signs of mind management, the fun, everything! In a world of playrooms filled with high tech, brightly colored playthings that dazzled and stimulated it was interesting to witness the gentle effects of self esteem storybooks and cuddly stuffed animals. We called it the Organimal Effect. We even found adults giving our books to each other for gifts!
It was just too good to keep to ourselves, so we shared it with Childrens Self Esteem.
